I was greatful to have emergent access to quality care while I was in the area on vacation. There was a little waiting, but that's to be expected in such a rural area. They did very well considering how busy they were.
Hayward Memorial Hospital charged me about $10,000 for use of their facility for my outpatient cataract surgery of one eye with local anesthesia. The bill had about 30- 40 "Miscellaneous Charges"!!! I asked them several times to itemize what those "Miscellaneous" charges were and they NEVER provided me with such. In addition, two months later, the hospital sent me another bill which repeated the charges but it ALSO added an additional $288 in "Miscellaneous" charges to boot!!! This is Price Gouging at its best!!! Totally outrageous!!! The opthalmologist charged around $3,000 for his actual procedure which is about right. So total was $13,000+ for uncomplicated cataract surgery of one eye.
After they created a outstanding bill for only a few standard checkup visits, I hand-delivered my health insurance information. A month or so went by and I would still not only get bills in the mail (unchanged) but phone calls and then voice mails. Even though after displaying & providing all the necessary paper work for my health insurance coverage.
INCOMPETENT
One word can sum up this place...
I received superb care at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital. It is truly a gem.
1. not having or showing the necessary skills to do something successfully.
Waited in urgent care for three hours before leaving AMA for a RAPID strep test.
